Methyl acetate is an important solvent primarily used in the paint and resin industries.

Applications:

The main application of methyl acetate is as a volatile solvent with low toxicity, used in adhesives, paints, and nail polish removers. Acetic anhydride is produced from the carbonylation of methyl acetate in a process inspired by the Monsanto acetic acid synthesis.
